About The Position

GAI Consultants is seeking an Environmental Specialist to perform remote work from the Northern Kentucky area. The primary responsibility will be to conduct stormwater and other regulated waters compliance monitoring field assessments, including erosion and sediment control inspections, stormwater pollution prevention plan modifications, and documentation of environmental resources for energy-related projects. The role may also involve assisting on other projects as needed. The individual will support the compilation of data and preparation of weekly reports and permitting documents under the direction of Task Managers and Project Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Ecology, Engineering, Biology, or Environmental Science
  • 3-4 years of experience commensurate with environmental consulting practices with a background in environmental science, ecology, or construction inspection services
  • Advanced technical writing ability
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Travel within Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky is a requirement and extended field assignments are likely
  • Technical knowledge of natural resources and field assessment methods
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Knowledge and use of GPS tools
  • A current Driver's License is required
  • Possess basic skills; follows procedures; learns record keeping protocols general topographic and arial photograph reading experience, learns technical literature basics
  • Possesses basic oral and written communication skills
  • Identifies and acknowledges principles of teamwork and leadership
  • Interacts primarily with internal project team members

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with erosion and sedimentation control monitoring and construction inspections on linear projects is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete construction inspections, erosion control monitoring, and environmental marking and staking
  • Assist with field data collection and wetland delineations
  • Gain knowledge of regulatory requirements and complete basic regulatory agency applications
  • Receive technical training for career enhancement
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope
