The Bridgeport Port Jefferson Ferry is seeking Licensed Third Assistant Engineers to join our team.

Requirements

• Current U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential
• Third Assistant Engineer License
• Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass pre-employment drug test and physical.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitary condition of the engine room.
• Lubricate, clean, and paint machinery spaces such as steering space, boiler room, generator room, bow thruster engine room, and engine.
• Support the engineer on duty with daily maintenance of main and auxiliary machinery.
• Assist in overhauling engines and their components.
• Assist with safety and security duties as assigned.
• Instruct the oilers/ wipers on the proper use of Sinex.
• Coordinates proper inventory of vessels' engineering supplies.
• Other duties as may be assigned by the Captain or Engineer.
