About The Position

Come work as an Assistant Engineer with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Within the context of a client centred model of care, the Assistant Engineer 4th Class is responsible for responding to breakdowns and carrying out daily inspections of critical mechanical room equipment located in various buildings of the hospital. Performs maintenance and repair duties related to buildings and equipment and performs mechanical and electrical repairs to plant systems such as heating, air handling and pneumatic tube systems. Operates, repairs and carries out preventative maintenance on the boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power and other related equipment of the facility in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Requirements

  • Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of B.C.
  • Two (2) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
