About The Position

Salem Montessori School (SMS) is hiring a Full-time assistant to work with Elementary students. SMS believes in educating the whole child by nurturing each student’s physical, social/emotional, and cognitive development. The team members work collaboratively as part of a caring and supportive community, serving as positive role models for students, families, and one another. As an Elementary Classroom Assistant, you will help create a peaceful, engaging learning environment where children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Working alongside an experienced Montessori Guide, you will support students in their daily discoveries while growing your own skills as an educator.

Requirements

• Ages 18 or older
• High School Diploma
• CPR and First Aid Certified or willing to be certified
• We conduct random drug testing
• Employees who are made an offer of employment will be required to pass a post-offer pre-employment background process that includes passing a Basic TB and fingerprint test, and completing an online training program.

Responsibilities

• Help create a peaceful, engaging learning environment where children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
• Support students in their daily discoveries while growing your own skills as an educator.
• Establish and enforce rules and boundaries of behavior for children in their classrooms.
• Help children use resources and explore during learning and play activities using the Montessori method of learning.
• Help with homework and after-school care.
• Conduct chores apart from child care (cleaning, etc.).
