About The Position

The Assistant Electrical Technician is a member of the Aerosciences team supporting high-speed wind tunnel testing operations. This position is responsible for assisting with electrical hook-up, checkout testing, and troubleshooting of low-voltage model and tunnel instrumentation. The role also supports senior electricians with conduit installation, wiring, and maintenance activities related to tunnel operations and support equipment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and able to work effectively in a team-based technical environment while following established procedures and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and measuring/diagnostic tools
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision in a team environment
  • Willingness to work extended hours on occasion to support operational requirements
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic hand-tool and mechanical skills
  • Prior experience supporting technical, laboratory, industrial, or testing environments
  • Familiarity with electrical troubleshooting and instrumentation systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist with electrical hook-up and checkout testing for low-voltage instrumentation and testing equipment
  • Support high-speed wind tunnel testing operations through electrical and technical assistance
  • Assist senior electricians with running conduit, pulling wire, wiring systems, and general electrical installation activities
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics on electrical systems and instrumentation
  • Utilize measuring and diagnostic tools to support testing and maintenance activities
  • Help maintain and organize tools, materials, and work areas
  • Follow established safety procedures, operational guidelines, and technical instructions
  • Support maintenance and repair activities for tunnel operations and related support equipment
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and other team members to support testing schedules and operational needs
  • Assist with documentation and reporting related to electrical work and testing activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
