We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Entry-Level Assistant District Attorney commencing on Tuesday, September 7, 2027. Assistant District Attorneys are given significant responsibility early in their careers and receive extensive courtroom experience from the outset. Once proficient, Assistant District Attorneys handle serious and complex cases and are expected to develop litigation skills quickly through regular court appearances, hearings, motion practice, evidentiary proceedings, and trials under the guidance of experienced supervisors. Assistant District Attorneys must commit to three years of initial service to the Office. Attorneys are routinely required to perform evening, night, weekend, and holiday assignments and may be required to respond on a 24-hour basis to crime scenes, police precincts, and booking facilities. BXDA is committed to developing skilled, ethical prosecutors through a comprehensive training and professional development program. Attorneys participate in hands-on litigation training and ongoing continuing legal education. Training opportunities include simulation-based exercises, mentorship from experienced supervisors and bureau leadership, and advanced instruction in specialized practice areas. BXDA emphasizes hands-on supervision, collaborative case review, and continuous professional growth throughout every stage of an attorney’s career. BXDA offers a structured career pathway designed to build strong, experienced litigators through progressive courtroom responsibility and increasingly complex casework. Initial Assignment (Misdemeanor Practice): Following training, attorneys are typically assigned to either the General Crimes Bureau within our Trial Division or the Domestic Violence Bureau within the Special Victims Division, where they handle misdemeanor cases and gain extensive courtroom experience. Progression to Felony Practice: After approximately 18–24 months—and based on demonstrated readiness—attorneys are eligible to transition to a felony trial or investigative bureau. Advanced Litigation Opportunities: In specialized bureaus, attorneys handle more complex cases, develop advanced trial skills, and take on increased responsibility.
