About The Position

The Human Trafficking Bureau seeks an ADA with felony trial experience to join the bureau. The position entails handling a vertical case load of felony cases and investigations involving the investigation and prosecution of sex and labor trafficking offenses against children and adults, felony crimes patronizing of minors for prostitution, organized crimes involving commercial sexual exploitation, kidnaping, rape, and other violent crimes as they relate to human trafficking, as well as sex offender registration related litigation. Applicants should have a strong interest in working with vulnerable crime victims who have experienced significant trauma and exploitation. In addition, applicants should have a desire to develop advanced investigative and trial skills and expertise in, trauma-informed interviewing techniques, traumatic bonding, long-term investigations and drafting search warrants.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree
  • Active member of the New York State bar in good standing
  • At least 3 years of experience as a prosecutor
  • United States citizenship
  • New York State residency

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with victims of trauma, traumatic bonding, and sexual assaults including children and adolescents
  • Trial experience with cases involving trauma and/or sex crimes, in addition to other general jury trial experience
  • Training in trauma-informed interviewing techniques for victims of sexual assault and related crimes
  • Experience in investigations, including but not limited to, drafting search warrants, cell site orders and analyzing recovered electronic data
  • Comprehensive knowledge of crimes contained in Penal Law Articles 120, 130, 135, 230 and 263

Responsibilities
