About The Position

The Assistant Director for the Partrick-Clayes Center for Career Development plays a key leadership role in advancing career readiness and professional success initiatives for students within the Fowler College of Business. As a member of the Partrick-Clayes Center for Career Development team, this position helps shape and deliver innovative career programming, employer engagement strategies, and workforce preparation resources that support students from exploration through post-graduation success. Working collaboratively with the Director, faculty, employers, alumni, and campus partners, the role oversees impactful events, strengthens industry relationships, and supports strategic initiatives that enhance career outcomes for Fowler students. This is an exciting opportunity for a student-centered professional who is passionate about career development, employer relations, and experiential learning in a dynamic business school environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum three years relevant experience in higher education career services, professional level career advising/counseling, corporate recruiting, human resources or outplacement, or related position for these industries. A Master’s degree in Counseling, Human Resources, Student Affairs, Business, or related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • An understanding of corporate recruiting practices/protocols and talent management gained through prior business/industry or career counseling/coaching experience.
  • An understanding of job search and process management at the undergraduate level and/or graduate degree level for business majors.
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Must have the ability to maintain positive customer service orientation and display strong communication skills with students and faculty.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency in use of Excel and Google Docs, and aptitude for learning new software.
  • Working knowledge of the local area and regional job market/economy.
  • Working knowledge of career services and employment trends, issues, and challenges.
  • Experience communicating with diverse and changing audiences in person and via web, print, and other media.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license, have minimum liability insurance amount prescribed by State Law, have not received more than three moving violations and/or accidents or combination thereof in the past twelve month period.
  • Have a current “Authorized to use Privately Owned Vehicle” form on file with the University.
  • Satisfy the State Defense Driver Training requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree in counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
  • A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling, guidance or a job-related field may be substituted for two years of the required professional experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional, personal or career counseling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee career readiness programming, including workshops, employer events, company visits, and professional development initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, and community partners to expand career opportunities for students.
  • Support the management and daily operations of the career center, including supervision of student support staff and program resources.
  • Lead research and assessment efforts related to career readiness, employment outcomes, and workforce trends.
  • Collaborate with faculty, departments, and campus partners to align career initiatives with student and industry needs.
