About The Position

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement serves to create a vibrant, inclusive campus life by implementing diverse, engaging programs and supporting student organizations. The Assistant Director advises the Campus Activities Board as well as playing a collaborative role with the other staff in the office to provide support to all clubs and organizations in their development, leadership training, and general program support.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience advising undergraduate and graduate students clubs, organizations and leadership development.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with various levels of university constituents.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Proven competence in leadership and supervision of students and staff.
  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe Suite and proficient in using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, develop communication strategies and work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with high accuracy.
  • A high degree of organization, ability to engage in various tasks simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential University information.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in student personnel, student development, or related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience in student activities, college union, or related area is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Student Leadership programming and development.
  • Oversight and programming related to LGBTQIA initiatives.
  • Organize the Annual Student Leadership Institute (logistical details, marketing, planning, recruitment of facilitators/presenters and assessments).
  • Responsible for providing administrative support, advisement, and development of programming for Recognized Student Organizations (RSO).
  • Co-Advise the Campus Activities Board.
  • Responsible for the development of assessment and evaluation tools related to Recognized Student Organizations.
  • Responsible for enforcing all University and Campus Life policies, rules, expectations and guidelines as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Supervise Late Nights & Weekend programming.
