This role combines field leadership with administrative oversight and requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, expert skiing ability, strong downhill mountain biking ability, and the ability to lead effectively. The Assistant Director, Snow Safety works closely with the Director, Ski Patrol and other Patrol management to coordinate staffing, training, avalanche mitigation support, operational priorities, and emergency response readiness across the mountain. The position involves collecting and analyzing weather and snowpack data to support avalanche forecast products at Mammoth Resorts. It also includes collaborating with Ski Patrol Leadership and Mountain Operations to make avalanche risk management decisions for avalanche workers and ski area operations at Mammoth Mountain. Additionally, the role provides guidance, policy, oversight, and training for the avalanche forecasting team at June Mountain, and avalanche safety training to Mammoth Resorts. The Assistant Director will also mentor and assist front line Patrol staff with daily duties when appropriate.
