Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, student affairs, higher education, sport management, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least two years of full time, professional work experience in collegiate recreation and intramural sports, club sports program administration or related field.
  • Supervisory experience with student and graduate assistant staff.
  • Knowledge of membership and facility management software.
  • Knowledge of risk management policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of current recreation programming trends and issues.
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments, deadlines, and tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in recreation, physical education, student affairs, higher education, sport management, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience developing and implementing recreation programs that effectively meet the needs of students or other populations.
  • Experience in the training and supervision of multiple part-time staff with emphasis on intramural sports officials and supervisors.
  • Active involvement in campus recreation and/or higher education professional organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of UREC Sports (Club and Intramural Sports).
  • Directly manages club sports.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to intramural support staff.
  • Supervises full-time and part-time staff.
  • Manages the annual budget.
  • Evaluates compliance in program area risk management practices.
  • Assists with the strategic plan and vision for UREC Sports.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty.
  • Ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
