About The Position

The University Honors Program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications for an Interim Assistant Director position. The Interim Assistant Director will support the mission and strategic priorities of the Honors Program through leadership in Honors community development, student engagement, and selected curricular initiatives. This position works collaboratively with the Honors Director, Honors staff, faculty partners, graduate assistants, and student leaders to support a vibrant and inclusive Honors experience grounded in academic excellence, intellectual exploration, and meaningful community engagement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required
  • Experience working with undergraduate students in higher education settings
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to student development, inclusive excellence, and interdisciplinary learning

Nice To Haves

  • doctorate or progress toward doctorate preferred
  • Experience with academic programming, student engagement, advising, or honors education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of programs that foster student belonging, engagement, and professional growth within the Honors community
  • Coordinate regular and special Honors events, workshops, and student programming
  • Assist with student-facing communications, including newsletters, social media, and outreach materials
  • Support Honors student leadership initiatives, including the Student Advisory Board and mentoring initiatives
  • Assist with recruitment and outreach efforts, including Preview Day, orientations, college fairs, and prospective student communications
  • Support alumni engagement initiatives, including Alumni Week and alumni networking efforts
  • Assist with donor and community engagement activities as needed
  • Assist with administration and support of Honors Seminar programming
  • Support Honors Seminar presenters, fellows, graduate teaching assistants, undergraduate course assistants, and enrolled students
  • Assist with selected Honors Thesis and Honors Baccalaureate processes, including student support, committee coordination, and program events such as the Honors Poster Symposium
  • Contribute to assessment and evaluation efforts related to Honors curriculum and student experience
  • Collaborate with Honors faculty, staff, and university partners to support strategic initiatives and day-to-day program operations
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and program evaluation efforts
  • Participate in planning efforts related to student success, retention, and community development
