About The Position

Vassar College is seeking an Assistant Director of Sports Performance for the Department of Athletics and Physical Education. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, 44-week position reporting to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Performance. The role involves supporting the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for 25 NCAA Division III varsity sports and four varsity club teams. The position requires weekend, holiday, early morning, and late evening hours, with the 44 weeks distributed across the calendar year through mutual agreement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Current NSCA, CSCS or CSCCA, SCCC certification.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of constituents.
  • Knowledge and compliance with NCAA and league rules and regulations.
  • Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid is necessary but can be obtained through Vassar College.
  • A valid and unrestricted driver’s license for at least 2 years.
  • Successful result of a background search.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and executing comprehensive year-round strength, conditioning, and speed programs tailored to the specific needs of head sport coaches and assigned teams.
  • Player and team development to include: teaching proper technique, monitoring and/or directing individual and team workouts, and conducting testing to determine baselines and assess progress toward performance goals.
  • Development, implementation, and utilization of an online methodology for tracking student-athlete strength & conditioning activities, including the use of pre-practice readiness questionnaires.
  • Collaboration with the sports medicine staff to develop and implement injury prevention and injury rehabilitation programs for assigned student-athletes.
  • Supervision of Sports Performance work study students.
  • Equipment maintenance and reconciliation of equipment expenses.
  • Management and production of Vassar College Sports Performance social media channels.
