About The Position

Enhances and improves the SRIM experience specifically in Heartful Care for our residents and their families. This role accepts management responsibilities of the Nursing Department in the absence of the Director of Resident Services and assists in managing the care of all residents. The position involves decision-making, priority management, and communication with staff during nights and weekends. It also includes assisting with recruitment, associate performance management, scheduling, and providing hands-on care as needed. The role participates in key meetings, ensures medication order accuracy, investigates incident reports, and adheres to assisted living regulations. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining a safe and secure working environment, understanding emergency procedures, and complying with HIPAA regulations. The Assistant Director is expected to take initiative, seek additional information, offer solutions, and willingly take on special projects.

Requirements

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Knowledge of word processing software, electronic medical records.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Nursing License

Responsibilities

Demonstrates excellent decision-making skills and can understand the impact of those decisions.
Sets and manages priorities.
Accepts calls from staff during nights and weekends.
Conducts meetings/training as required/requested.
Communicates in a clear, accurate and timely manner.
Assists in reviewing new associate applications, checks references, interviews applicants for the best possible hire.
Assists in monitoring the associates’ work and performance.
Assists in coaching/counseling associates in a respectful manner.
Assists in completing the associate performance evaluations in accordance with established policy.
Assists in monitoring expenditures weekly to ensure compliance with department budgeted monthly amounts.
Assists in scheduling associates based upon budgeted FTE's and prepares assignments to ensure efficiency.
Provides “hands on” care on an as needed basis to meet the needs of the residents.
Assists in performing evaluation for residents to determine level of care and services.
Participates in monthly ECC & LNS meeting with Director of Resident Services and Corporate Director of Nursing.
Ensures medication orders are accurate on the MORS.
Assists in reviewing and investigating all incidents reports and recommends appropriate action/follow up to the Executive Director.
Understands and adheres to the ALF regulations pertaining to assisted living health care laws.
Maintains a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families, visitors, and associates.
Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits.
Knows, understands, and follows established policy and procedures in emergency situations.
Is considered essential personnel especially during emergencies.
Wears clean and appropriate dress per established policy.
Understands and complies with HIPAA regulations.
Takes initiative in work, seeks out additional information and offers solutions/suggestions.
Willingly takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties.
Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned or as requested.
Directly supervises employees in the Resident Services and Nursing Departments.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
