The Assistant Director of Resident Life Services plays an important role in creating a vibrant, engaging, and meaningful environment for residents through activities, events, volunteer coordination, spiritual support, and community connection. From coordinating outings and special events to bringing joy through music, crafts, animals, and intergenerational programming, this role helps ensure every resident feels valued, connected, and cared for.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism
  • Comfortable coordinating multiple projects, schedules, and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience using computers, arts & crafts supplies, laminators, and operating a van
  • Passion for serving seniors and creating meaningful experiences for others

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience leading or coordinating group activities or programs

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Director of Resident Life Services to oversee and coordinate department programs and activities
  • Plan and execute engaging resident activities, events, outings, and celebrations
  • Recruit, orient, and support volunteers and community service workers
  • Coordinate and distribute resident activity calendars
  • Help oversee scheduling and daily coordination between Activities, Spiritual Care, Gift Shop, and Salon services
  • Promote programs through community outreach and public speaking opportunities
  • Support residents and families by providing compassionate emotional support and meaningful engagement
  • Assist with department staffing, coaching, scheduling, and timekeeping
  • Collaborate with nursing, dining, social services, Martha & Mary Kids, and other interdisciplinary teams to enhance resident experiences
  • Assist with department budgeting, quality assurance initiatives, and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain records for programs such as Pet Therapy and volunteer services
  • Occasionally assist with resident dining support as a Feeding Assistant

  • Paid Time Off (PTO) is accrued at varying rates depending on length of employment. Accrual rates begin at 5.32 hours per month based on a 40-hour workweek. These accruals include the required sick leave per Washington State’s Paid Sick Leave Law
