About The Position

The Assistant Director of Nursing collaborates with the Core Team and all departments to provide leadership and accountability. This role ensures policies and procedures are in place to meet Federal and State regulations as well as standards of practice. The Assistant Director of Nursing also supervises and develops nursing staff members and oversees the programs of the department, providing Core Team support as needed.

Requirements

Current New York State Registered Professional Nursing License
Baccalaureate degree
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing and supervisory experience
Willingness to embrace and exemplify St. John’s Brand Characteristics
Technical competence in AOD, MS Excel and Word, and Outlook

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and accountability in collaboration with the Core Team and all departments.
Ensure policies and procedures are in place to meet Federal and State regulations and standards of practice.
Supervise and develop nursing staff members.
Oversee the programs of the department.
Provide Core Team support as needed.
Support the emotional, physical, and social well-being of Elders, Core Team, and Nurses.
Apply the problem-solving process to develop real-time solutions.
Provide consultation services to support elders and the Core Team as needed.
Lead by example and distribute responsibilities among interdisciplinary team members.
Set clear expectations, coach the Core Team, and manage Nursing Operations Specialists, Infection Preventionist, and Nurse Educators.
Participate in staffing, hiring, and performance improvement.
Lead the Nursing Department Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Committee.
Participate with budgeting, payroll, and ordering.
Advocate for the optimal quality of life for elders by responding to Quality of Life concerns.
