About The Position

The RN - Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Services department to ensure the highest degree of quality patient care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. Life Care Centers of America facilities operate Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) that provide long-term care for residents who require ongoing skilled support and compassionate daily assistance, and short-term, sub-acute rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury. They utilize a collaborative care approach through an interdisciplinary team with nursing, therapy, and medical staff working together. The patient population includes individuals with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs. As a therapy professional, you will help patients achieve functional progress and improve quality of life within a supportive, patient-centered environment.

Requirements

  • ASN or BSN from accredited college or university
  • Currently licensed/registered in applicable State
  • Must maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years' geriatric nursing experience preferred, preferably in post-acute care

Responsibilities

  • Assists the DON in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and directing the Nursing Services department
  • Interviews, selects, hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises nursing staff
  • Assists with overseeing care provided by nursing staff
  • Oversees infection control responsibilities
  • Assumes the duties of the DON in his or her absence
  • Provides direct nursing care as necessary
  • Performs functions of a staff nurse as required
  • Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assists in the evacuation of patients
  • Demonstrates dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrates and uses reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Communicates and functions productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Maintains a liaison with patients, families, support departments, etc. to adequately plan for patient needs
  • Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
