About The Position

Woodland Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in Conroe, Texas is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) with RN credentials to join their team. As part of Lifepoint Health, this role is crucial in making communities healthier. The position directs departmental activities and resources to achieve organizational objectives, including developing and implementing departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements. The role involves directing and evaluating departmental operations, planning and monitoring staffing, preparing and monitoring departmental budgets, coordinating audits, and fostering an environment for professional growth and evidence-based practices. The position requires interaction with internal and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors, and necessitates a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance standards, including HIPAA, business office standards, and recommended practices.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required.
  • Current Registered Nurse license as required by state regulations in which the facility operates.
  • CPR certification is required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
  • De-escalation certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
  • BLS certification

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
  • 1-year experience in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.
  • 1-year experience in a nursing leadership/management role preferred.
  • Experience in a psychiatric health‑care facility with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, or geriatric patients preferred.
  • Experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
  • Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards.
  • Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.
