About The Position

We are seeking an experienced, leadership-driven Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to oversee Medical-Surgical units. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Nursing (DON) and serve as a key leader in driving clinical excellence, managing unit operations, and mentoring nursing staff.

Requirements

Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Minimum 3–5 years of acute care clinical experience within a Medical-Surgical setting required
Minimum 2–3 years of progressive nursing leadership experience required
BLS Certification required
Strong communication, leadership, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills required

Nice To Haves

Master’s Degree (MSN, MHA, or MBA) highly preferred
Advanced certifications such as CMSRN or NE-BC preferred
Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms preferred

Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to implement facility policies, clinical protocols, and departmental goals
Oversee daily clinical and administrative operations of the Medical-Surgical units
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission standards
Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, satisfaction, and reduced readmissions
Support evidence-based nursing practices and operational excellence
Mentor Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and staff RNs to support professional growth and team development
Optimize staffing patterns to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios and efficient workflow
Participate in hiring, onboarding, annual evaluations, and competency tracking for nursing staff
Foster a collaborative, patient-focused, and supportive work environment
