About The Position

Join the team at Westminster Point Pleasant, a beautiful waterfront continuing care retirement community. We are seeking a pro-active and detail-oriented self-starter for our full-time Assistant Director of Nursing - Clinical position. This role assists the leadership team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating Process Improvement opportunities, as well as structuring learning experiences as part of the improvement process. The primary purpose of this position is to develop the competency of staff in accordance with quality improvement needs.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current, unencunbered, active license to practice as an RN in the State of Florida.
  • Must be CPR Certified.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of long-term care experience as a staff nurse.
  • At least 6 months experience as a nurse leader (direct or in-direct care).
  • Must be willing to receive the influenza (flu) vaccination during flu season annually.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, as well as follow instructions, and accept guidance.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people within the facility.
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families.

  • Prefer supervisory leadership experience.
  • Prefer evidence of proficiency in Instructional methodology.
  • Prefer strong interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, conduct, and schedule effective learning experiences for facility staff including nurses and nursing assistants.
  • Utilize QAPI as a performance improvement model and the foundation for the Quality Program as it relates to nursing.
  • Work with IDT on quality improvement techniques and strategies.
  • Drive competency with front line staff on prioritization, critical problem solving.
  • Collaborate with the RHSD and DON to periodically review the policies and procedures and makes recommendations for revisions.
  • Monitor staff compliance with the written policies and procedures established by this facility.
  • Monitor QM / Metrics performance and identify improvement opportunities through root cause analysis and IDT discussions.
  • Work with ADON's to support process improvement including RCA, training, reporting.
  • Maintain a comprehensive Infection Control Program with surveillance, documentation / trending, analysis of the data and monthly reports.
  • Assist with problem identification and resolution.
  • Manage and monitor Incidents / Accidents occurrence and trends.
  • Participate in staff reviews through observation of performance and make recommendations to the Director of Nursing/HSA for action and monitoring.
  • Manage staff certification and education to meet state survey requirements.
  • Work Closely with DON in determining strategy for sustained performance with sustainable resources.
  • Be capable to act in the capacity of the DON during his/her absence.
  • Interview, hire and terminate nursing department employees as needed.
