About The Position

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing in Athletics. This position will report to the Assistant AD/Marketing and Promotions as well as the Associate AD for External Operations. The role involves assisting in the development, planning, coordination, and implementation of all marketing and promotional efforts for the Department of Athletics, as well as growing the Department of Athletics' community relations. The position will plan, coordinate, and implement marketing, promotional, and social media efforts primarily for Basketball, Volleyball, and Wrestling, with a focus on driving ticket sales and attendance for all ticketed sports. Engagement will be driven through meaningful community relations, utilizing market research, analytics, and consumer and social trends. The role also includes coordinating in-game promotions for football (on-field director), basketball (game day director), and assisting with baseball promotions and other assigned sports. This includes writing and executing game scripts for Basketball, Volleyball, and Wrestling, and assisting with Football and Baseball. In-game promotions cover pre-game, timeouts, halftimes, etc. Collaboration with Corporate Sales & Sponsorships is essential to execute promotions that align with marketing and sales commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends, including all home Football, Basketball, Baseball, and other athletic events and contests as assigned.
  • Ability to use MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to use Asana or similar project management software.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Sport Marketing, Marketing, Communications, or Graphic Design.
  • Experience managing community engagement/relations.
  • Prior experience working in athletics.
  • Experience with market research and analytics.
  • Knowledge of consumer and social trends.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, planning, coordination, and implementation of all marketing and promotional efforts for the Department of Athletics.
  • Grow the Department of Athletics' community relations.
