About The Position

Responsible for assisting the director in overseeing the daily operations in the Food and Nutrition Services Department and Education Cafeteria’s. Responsible for supervising and training and evaluation of staff, reviewing the National School Lunch Program, implementation of residential and kitchen inspections, and enforcement of departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Food Management or Nutrition is required as well as a minimum of 3 years experience in a food services supervisory role.
ServSafe Certification and Valid Driver’s License are required.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 pounds, be agile, bend, squat, stretch, reach, push up and stand for several hours at a time.
Must be able to read, write, enter dates and follow verbal/written directions, prepare written reports, and complete forms in English.

Nice To Haves

An Associate’s degree or Culinary Arts degree with extensive industry experience will be considered in place of formal education.

Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting the Director in overseeing the daily food service operations in a multi-residential community and main commissary.
Responsible for overseeing the preparation and serving of food to meet the regulatory guidelines and nutritional needs of the individuals we serve and the employees. Assures that food is being handled in a safe and sanitary manner. Overseas food preparation to ensure it is appetizing and attractive, prepared in correct quantities, and quality.
Effectively supervises food service personnel in a positive manner and promotes teamwork and efficient production.
Provides on the job training for employees on food handling and department policies and procedures. Assures a safe workplace.
Assists the Director in maintaining systems and procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, preparing and serving food and related products, working with Dietitians and menu planning and developing new diets.
Responsible for assisting the Director in developing operational component forecast for ordering and is available to explain variances. Works with the Director in dealing with sales representatives from various food distribution companies.
Responsible for proactive physical management with regard to payroll, scheduling, purchasing, and waste.
Maintains and keeps accurate departmental records, accounts, and recipes. Works with Food Service Manager for weekly count adjustment.
Ensures that requirements for appropriate sanitation and safety lines of respective areas are consistently met.
Assists the Director in recruiting, hiring, scheduling training, and evaluating performance of staff. Supervises staff in accordance with Woods Services policies and procedures.
Oversees School and FNS Managers and Production Supervisor. Ensures accuracy and completion of the School Lunch Program sheets, residential, day programs and FNS inspections, and that on on-going basis in-service training for FNS staff and the Woods community are scheduled and completed. Ensures production schedules and scheduling is completed accurately.
Assist the Director with updating and maintenance of weekly department inventory and performs other functions such as maintaining records to comply with Woods Services, government, and accrediting agency standards.
Responsible for monitoring the Kronos timekeeping system to assure accuracy and compliance with Woods attendance policies and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining an effective working relationship with all levels of the organization.
Responsible for adhering to all Woods Services policies and procedures.
Responsible for decisions related to the department in the absence of the Director of Food and Nutrition.
Other duties as assigned.
