About The Position

The Assistant Director of Finance will assist in the daily leadership and management of all accounting and finance operations. This role involves supervising accounting team members, serving as acting finance leader in the absence of the Director of Finance, and promoting collaboration and professional development within the Finance team. The position requires preparing and reviewing financial reports, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, analyzing financial performance, and supporting financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis. Additionally, the Assistant Director will assist with budgeting and forecasting, monitor departmental spending, participate in cash flow forecasting, and recommend opportunities for improved profitability and efficiency. Ensuring adherence to GAAP, maintaining internal controls, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with tax requirements are key responsibilities. The role also involves partnering with department leaders for financial guidance, resolving financial issues, maintaining relationships with financial partners, and supporting financial systems. Fostering Bluejack's core values and building positive relationships throughout the organization are also essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Hospitality, resort, club, hotel, or real estate development experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP or hospitality accounting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily leadership and management of all accounting and finance operations.
  • Supervise accounting team members, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, and other finance personnel.
  • Serve as acting finance leader in the absence of the Director of Finance.
  • Promote collaboration and professional development within the Finance team.
  • Prepare and review accurate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support labor reporting, cost reporting, financial statements, and operational metrics.
  • Assist leadership with financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis.
  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor departmental spending and budget variances.
  • Participate in cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Recommend opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard Club assets.
  • Assist with development and enforcement of financial policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support all internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
  • Partner with department leaders to provide financial guidance and operational support.
  • Research and resolve financial issues promptly.
  • Maintain relationships with banking partners, auditors, vendors, and other financial service providers.
  • Support implementation and optimization of financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiencies.
