Assistant Director of Engineering
About The Position
Four Seasons is seeking a talented Assistant Director of Engineering to join their team and contribute significantly to the reopening of their newly remodeled resort in Santa Barbara. This role will provide assistance to the Director of Engineering in all aspects of resort and building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC refrigeration, interior, paint, and decorating. The position requires responding to inquiries and problems efficiently, courteously, and professionally to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while adhering to Four Seasons' policies. The Assistant Director will also be involved in hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, counseling, and performance evaluation of maintenance staff, ensuring the proper execution of the work order/request system, and implementing preventive maintenance schedules. Additionally, they will prepare purchase requisitions and work orders, liaise with the Director of Purchasing, and maintain logs for stock items and tools.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in a hotel/resort environment.
- Expert technical knowledge of general building maintenance and environmental standards, preferably on luxury properties.
- Strong experience in managing capital projects, renovations, and new construction projects.
- Passionate and motivated leader with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Highest level of integrity and transparency.
- Strong business acumen, an eye for detail, a passion for service, and a desire to promote a continuous learning environment that creates an atmosphere for professional development opportunities.
- Requires knowledge of and the ability to operate computer equipment and various system applications on the computers.
- Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
- US work authorization is required unless the candidate is currently in a managerial position at a Four Seasons location.
Nice To Haves
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field is preferred.
- Spanish preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide assist the Director of Engineering in all aspects of resort and building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC refrigeration, interior, paint and decorating.
- Respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies.
- Assist in the hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, counseling, and evaluation of performance and planning the activities of maintenance staff including making spot checks on a daily basis.
- Ensure proper execution of work order/request system and that items are followed up on when necessary.
- Prepare requisitions for purchase and work orders and liaise effectively with the Director of Purchasing.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules, policies and rules to ensure an efficient department.
- Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools and monitor distribution of items.
