As the Assistant Director of Athletics Compliance, you'll play a critical role in supporting the integrity of Ball State Athletics. Working closely with coaches, student-athletes, campus partners, and conference and NCAA stakeholders, you'll help administer a comprehensive compliance program that promotes education, accountability, and competitive excellence. This is an opportunity to contribute to a student-centered athletics department while helping ensure compliance with NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and university regulations in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working in collegiate athletics, higher education, athletics compliance, student services, or a related area.

Responsibilities

  • Support the administration of Ball State University’s athletics compliance program to promote and maintain compliance with NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and university rules and regulations.
  • Monitor education, documentation, student-athlete programming, and day-to-day compliance operations involving student-athletes, coaches, university employees, and representatives of Ball State University’s athletics interests.
  • Maintain a culture of compliance within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through the development and delivery of ongoing rules education for coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
  • Support compliance orientation for new athletics department employees and support educational efforts for representatives of Ball State University’s athletics interests.
  • Support the implementation and administration of athletics compliance policies, procedures, and monitoring systems designed to ensure compliance with NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and university regulations.
  • Review compliance documentation, identify potential concerns, and elevate questions or issues to appropriate senior compliance staff.
  • Monitor the initial eligibility status of prospective student-athletes, including NCAA Eligibility Center certification, academic and amateurism certification, registration status, required documentation, and other outstanding eligibility requirements.
  • Maintain accurate tracking systems and communicate status updates and outstanding action items to compliance staff, coaches, prospective student-athletes, and appropriate campus partners.
  • Support transcript collection and review, Eligibility Center communications, and other processes related to initial eligibility and pre-enrollment certification.
  • Provide support with matters related to student-athlete eligibility, including transfer eligibility, continuing eligibility, transcript review, amateurism, and other eligibility-related processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and coordinate with appropriate university offices and senior compliance staff.
  • Provide support with the education, monitoring, and administration of NCAA playing and practice season requirements, including countable athletically related activities, required days off, declared playing seasons, and related documentation.
  • Develop and deliver educational materials and programming for student-athletes, coaches, athletics administrators, staff, and other individuals associated with the athletics program regarding NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and university rules and regulations.
  • Support the planning, coordination, implementation, and assessment of student-athlete programming and engagement initiatives.
  • Support department-wide programs and events designed to enhance the student-athlete experience, leadership development, personal and professional growth, community engagement, and overall student-athlete well-being.
  • Provide administrative and programming support for student-athlete leadership and engagement initiatives, including the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Council of Student-Athletes (COSA), community service activities, student-athlete recognition programs, department-wide events, and other student-athlete experience initiatives as assigned.
  • Provide support for NCAA, conference, and institutional reporting requirements, including financial aid and revenue distribution reporting, Academic Performance Program reporting, and other compliance-related data collection and submission processes as assigned.
  • Serve as a compliance liaison, as assigned, with university offices and campus partners including Student-Athlete Support Services, Admissions, the Office of the Registrar, the Rinker Center for Global Affairs, Financial Aid, and other relevant units.
  • Provide support with compliance matters related to athletically related financial aid, institutional and foundation scholarships, books, equipment loans, student-athlete benefits, and other permissible forms of assistance.
  • Coordinate compliance administration and monitoring for institutional camps and clinics, including required documentation, rules education, approvals, and follow-up processes.
  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for assigned sport programs, providing day-to-day guidance, education, monitoring, and support to coaches and staff under the direction of senior compliance administrators.
  • Provide support with the administration of compliance software and monitoring systems, maintain accurate compliance records, and support timely completion of required forms, approvals, and documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
