About The Position

This position is responsible for advising designated student programming organizations and committees, managing the Signature Events program, and coordinating class-wide events and campus traditions. The role involves advising on large-scale concerts, supporting various departmental events, and serving as a staff advisor for major campus-wide events. Additionally, the position assists with performer contracts, interprets university policies, and supports the Office of Campus Engagement in developing and managing campus programs, events, and traditions. Administrative functions include research, assessment, marketing strategy development, strategic planning, budget management, and staff development. The role also involves supervising a Program Coordinator and a graduate assistant, as well as indirectly supervising student assistants. The position requires 40 hours per week, with additional time needed during peak periods and frequent night and weekend hours.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and four years of experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advising support for designated student programming organizations and committees.
  • Manage and coordinate the Signature Events program, including developing and maintaining UF Traditions, event creation and implementation, and on-site event management.
  • Advise the Class Councils in all aspects of planning and executing class-wide events and campus traditions.
  • Advise Student Government Productions in the planning and production of large-scale concerts.
  • Support GatorNights, ACCENT Speaker’s Bureau, and other departmental campus events as needed.
  • Advise other designated student organizations and committees in the development and implementation of social, educational, and cultural programs.
  • Serve as staff advisor to designated major campus-wide events as assigned.
  • Assist with the performer contract process.
  • Advise student leaders in all aspects of event programming including idea development, budgeting, planning, advertising and promotion, program implementation, and program evaluation.
  • Interpret university policies for students and student organizations relating to the management of programs, contracts, safety, liability and risk management, and fiscal management.
  • Assist the Office of Campus Engagement in its efforts to provide support, advising, training, and oversight to ensure effective and comprehensive campus programs, events, and traditions at UF.
  • Serve as a resource for event planning and management for students, staff, and faculty as needed.
  • Assist with budget planning, monitoring, and reporting for events.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships in programming efforts with other UF departments.
  • Develop, conduct, and analyze research and assessments for various programs and services of the Office of Campus Engagement.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and promotions strategy for the services and programs of the Office of Campus Engagement.
  • Advise and assist the Associate Director of Campus Events and Traditions in strategic planning and in meeting the service and educational objectives of the unit.
  • Assist with budget planning and reporting. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure proper procedures, controls, and financial guidelines for all areas including organization expenditures.
  • Assist with coordination of staff development within the department.
  • Provide supervision, training, and support for the Program Coordinator – GatorNights and one graduate assistant.
  • Participate on committees and division-wide initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
