About The Position

The Galt House Hotel is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Banquets who will assist the Director of Banquets in providing leadership and oversight for associates in the department. Will be responsible for ensuring banquet events and functions are successfully executed from beginning to end. Interacts and coordinates with all levels of staff members. Recommends best practices and solutions to ensure effective and consistent guest service and quality.

Requirements

  • Flexibility and adaptability to effectively handle stress and matriculate in a fast-paced, frequently-changing environment.
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended hours.
  • Must be able to lift between 15 and 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • 2-4 years of management experience required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in or able to learn the proper use of hotel software (Delphi, ADP, and Microsoft Office).
  • Must meet the demands of a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able resolve problems with internal and external customers.
  • Must project a professional appearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing the highest level of service by hiring, training, managing, developing staff, and ensuring service remains consistent with company standards.
  • Work with other departments for successful event execution and act as a department liaison within the hotel.
  • Maintain a balance between floor supervision, administration, and communication with group contacts.
  • Ensure all invoices are maintained with accurate information.
  • Assist with schedule and control labor within budget.
  • Meet face-to-face with event clients to better understand their needs before and during the event.
  • Teach and reinforce proper hotel policy within the department.
  • Complete the daily final report, including the closure of the day's checks.
  • Maintain a bank for use in event cash bars.
  • Perform weekly and monthly forecasting and other responsibilities related to running a large and busy events department.
  • Maintain a safe and clean event environment for guests and staff.
  • Chair the weekly BEO meeting.
  • Responsible for Meeting Room set up.
  • Responsible for the timely distribution of BEO packets.
