About The Position

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Admissions & Recruitment and supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions working closely with the Registrar, Deans, Division Chairs, academic programs, and partner institutions, the Assistant Director of Admissions, Transfer & Returner Admissions oversees transfer and returning student admissions operations. Also, the ongoing development of transfer articulation agreements, direct admissions, and transfer pathways with a variety of partner institutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Presentation skills
  • Ability to work across campus units with provost, deans, faculty, admissions teams, and others from partner institutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt effectively and quickly to changing policies and requirements.
  • Possesses proven ability to streamline complex processes and systems.
  • Exhibits strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates strong technology proficiency, especially with student information systems like Degree Works and MS Office 365.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the institution and with external partners.
  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of experience in academic advising, admissions, or enrollment management
  • Knowledge of articulation and reverse transfer agreements and partnerships.
  • Knowledge of dual admit / dual enrollment programs.
  • Experience in an educational setting, including university transfer preparation or curriculum design and development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute plans and programs designed to assist transfer applicants with the transfer admissions process.
  • Build strong relationships with college advisors and prospective transfer students.
  • Review and evaluate credentials on students' transcripts to determine acceptance based on established policies and criteria.
  • Lead and mentor Admissions Operations Analysts, providing training and support to ensure cohesive operations across the department.
  • Provide excellent customer service while responding to direct requests from individual applicants and current students, parents, and counselors through phone, email, and assisting visitors to the office with questions that relate to admissions, transcripts, and transfer credits.
  • Support all operations involved within the Office of Admissions & Recruitment.
  • Monitor compliance with state and admissions policies and procedures.
  • Initiate the development and implementation of articulation agreements with community colleges and high schools.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for articulation agreements with partner institutions and maintain a clear and comprehensive articulation agreement process.
  • Conduct regular review and revision of established articulation agreements to keep them up to date.
  • Work closely with academic units to develop academic pathways based on established articulation agreements.
  • Support former students with the admissions process to return to TAMUT.
  • Engage as the main point of contact for external partners that support former student reenrollment.
  • Conduct regular review and revision of established pathways to keep them up to date.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives directly related to transfer articulation, such as reverse transfer, and dual admit/dual enrollment.
  • Build relationships with individuals and organizations inside and outside the university to support the development of new pathways for students with college credit.
  • Work with high schools and community colleges to develop direct admissions agreements.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop, refine, or establish policies and procedures connected with direct admissions, transfer articulations, and related pathway programs.
