About The Position

The Office of Academic Integrity at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Academic Integrity. The Assistant Director assists the Director of Academic Integrity (Director) with overall management of the Office of Academic Integrity, providing consultation and outreach services and serving as a Policy/Code Administrator for adjudication of allegations of academic misconduct.

Requirements

• Masters' degree required in higher education, student affairs, college student personnel, or related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years of related experience is required.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, use discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to reason, analyze, and solve complex student behavioral matters and administrative tasks/issues.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and initiate necessary actions to implement a campus-wide student academic integrity office and implement group decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, problems, issues, and academic integrity decisions and recommend and/or determine resolution to such.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a collaborative and cooperative relationship with University and community offices and agencies.
• Ability to travel and represent Office of Academic Integrity.
• Must exhibit leadership, administrative, and supervisory skills and abilities.
• Must have demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and the web for purposes of tracking judicial caseload, compiling reports, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and knowledge of a university environment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate during highly controversial situations using effective conflict resolution skills.

• Experience working with and/or administering university disciplinary processes and experience with investigations, dispute resolution, and university compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission and vision of the Offices of Academic Integrity and the Provost.
• Manage a student conduct caseload in a timely and efficient manner, and complete all correspondence in an appropriate, professional manner, including meeting all timelines.
• Administer all academic integrity procedures to ensure student rights are protected and due process is granted, and that all student disciplinary matters are addressed in accordance with all University rules and State and Federal Laws.
• Review reports of violations, evaluate evidence, and appropriately apply burdens of proof as established by University policy and State and Federal Laws.
• Coordinate reports of violations of the Policy on Student Academic Integrity and work with appropriate authorities/offices throughout the investigation, resolution, and sanctioning process.
• Review and establish priorities for all incoming incident reports for purposes of case management and adjudication.
• Support the development and use of educational and conflict resolution paths such as mediation, conflict coaching, and restorative justice when appropriate.
• Compile academic dishonesty/student conduct statistics and create reports as necessary for internal and external use.
• Resolve and respond to student and parent inquiries as necessary.
• Develop positive relationships and meet regularly with on- and off-campus partners regarding Office of Academic Integrity matters.
• Develop and deliver training for campus partners, e.g. faculty, Student Life, and students to insure University-wide compliance with the Policy on Student Academic Integrity.
• Serve as a consultant for the University community regarding the academic integrity process and filing complaints involving violations of the Policy on Student Academic Integrity.
• Serve as a resource for students regarding the University adjudication process.
• Work in collaboration with WVU offices (e.g., the Office of the General Counsel) and serve on committees and task forces for the University.
• Attend and represent the Office of Academic Integrity at appropriate meetings and conferences (local, regional, and national) to remain current in the fields of Academic Integrity.
• Lead and guide the work of administrative staff and supervise paraprofessional staff.
• Provide input to the Director regarding the budget for the Office of Academic Integrity.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director and Executive Director.
