About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial-minded applicants for a professional faculty position as Assistant Director dedicated to teaching, student engagement, and corporate outreach. Responsibilities include leadership and direction of multiple graduate Master of Science in Business Administration (MSBA) programs/tracks (e.g., MSBA-BA, FIN) including budgeting/tracking of expenditures, marketing/recruitment of new students, teaching in the MSBA program; supervising and evaluating capstone analytics projects; interfacing with corporate capstone sponsors; and soliciting new capstone projects from prospective sponsors. The candidate will provide additional program support activities such as mentoring MSBA students, coaching graduate students in improving their communication skills when writing resumes, cover letters, consulting reports, and giving business presentations; and maintaining strategic relationships with corporate sponsors to maintain and enhance financial support of MSBA academic activities. The position is based in Blacksburg.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or PhD in business or a technical field
  • Excellent communication skills and proven training / teaching ability
  • Proven leadership or management experience with leadership in academic programs preferred
  • Strong public speaking / presentation skills
  • Proven customer interface skills in a project execution role, business development role, or both
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic environment

Nice To Haves

  • Industry/business experience in consulting / government contracting, project management, or business intelligence and analytics
  • Experience planning, executing, and evaluating corporate and/or capstone projects
  • Prior senior leadership or executive leadership is a plus
  • Project and program management experience
  • Skills with specific analytics software or tools typically used in industry
  • General management experience
