Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FGP Assistant Director of Revenue Optimization and Analytics, Radiology. The Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle Optimization and Analytics, Radiology is responsible for overseeing and advancing the analytics and operational effectiveness of the revenue cycle for radiology services. This position focuses on identifying and analyzing trends, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), resolving payor-related issues, and providing actionable insights to improve financial outcomes. This role also involves supporting proactive problem-solving and aligning workflows with operational data. Reporting directly to the Chair of Radiology and the Director of Revenue Cycle Management, the Assistant Director plays a critical role in driving analytic innovation and offering strategic recommendations to enhance department performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination or training and relevant work experience, required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once; good communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
  • Arrive on time for work and meetings.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and patients.
  • High level of accuracy for reviewing charge batch submissions, preparing and presenting analyses, and in staff education.
  • Maintain current insurance regulatory policies and requirements relevant to the specialty.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Familiar with standard office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze payer reimbursements, billing metrics, denial rates, and accounts receivable (A/R) management for radiology services to identify trends and opportunities for optimization.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and scorecards to track KPIs, payor-specific trends, claims performance, and department-level metrics. Provide timely and actionable insights to leadership.
  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc operational analyses to evaluate workflows, cash flow variances, referral volume patterns, and other financial data impacting radiology revenue cycles.
  • Work with departmental and revenue cycle analytics teams to create tools to measure initiative effectiveness, assess progress, and identify strategic opportunities for improvement or cost reduction.
  • Provide detailed recommendations and action plans to improve metrics like denial rates, aging A/R levels, charge capture accuracy, and reimbursement efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between radiology leadership, and revenue cycle teams, proactively resolving operational concerns and aligning workflows with organizational goals.
  • Regularly meet with Department Chair and his leadership team to present revenue cycle insights, address payor issues, and review opportunities for improvement using practice-specific and departmental data.
  • Collaborate with practice operations to implement changes that optimize billing processes, maximize revenue, and improve efficiencies across radiology practices.
  • Provide guidance and education to radiology physicians and staff regarding coding policies, payer requirements, and compliance updates based on national and local regulations.
  • Work closely with departmental and revenue cycle leadership on initiatives that target revenue optimization for radiology services, including identifying bottlenecks, analyzing root causes, and implementing corrective measures.
  • Partner with the Chair of Radiology and Director of Revenue Cycle Management to develop policies, priorities, and strategies informed by data insights.
  • Create risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans for revenue cycle initiatives and ensure measurable outcomes are reviewed to address potential challenges.
  • Monitor and evaluate trends in payer performance, reimbursement fee schedules, and coding updates. Build presentations and reporting mechanisms to communicate findings effectively across stakeholders.
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships across internal teams and radiology department to ensure alignment on goals, promote operational efficiency, and enhance departmental performance.
  • Liaise with billing, finance, and managed care teams to address inquiries and identify solutions for workflow improvements.
  • Represent radiology-specific analytics at relevant meetings, contributing to discussions focused on strategic improvements and data-driven analysis.
  • Act as a resource on revenue cycle analytics and provide thought leadership to stakeholders, helping drive internal discussions and fostering alignment across practices.
  • Serves as Radiology department and NYU Langone Health Faculty Group Practice Brand Ambassador by upholding the NYULH Mission, vision and values and promoting excellence in the patient experience, during every encounter.
  • Drives consistency in every patient and colleague encounter by embodying the core principles of our FGP Service Strategy CARES (Connect, Align, Respond, Ensure, and Sign-Off)
  • Greets patients warmly and professionally, stating name and role, and clearly communicates each step of the care/interaction as appropriate
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and site management to ensure a positive experience and timely resolution for all patient interactions and inquiries whether in person, by phone or via electronic messaging.
  • Proactively anticipates patient needs, and participates in service recovery by applying the LEARN model (Listen, Empathize, Apologize, Resolve, Notify), and escalates to leadership as appropriate.
  • Shares ideas or any observed areas of opportunity, to improve patient experience and patient access, with appropriate leadership. (i.e. ways to optimize provider schedules, how to minimize delays, increase employee engagement, etc.)
  • Partners with departmental leadership, Patient Access Center and Central Billing Office team members to support collaboration and promote a positive patient experience.
