About The Position

Opportunity available for an energetic Assistant Director of Engineering at MUSC/Florence, SC! This role manages one or more functional areas within the Engineering Department, overseeing two or more professional and support staff, including subordinate supervisors. The Assistant Director evaluates and makes improvements to department processes, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations. This position involves greater discretion and financial authority than lower management levels, managing initiatives, strategic priorities, and programs that impact the organization. The role works independently and in collaboration with leadership to support the budget process and achieve key operational goals. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, facilitating, monitoring, and evaluating department activities based on employee/organizational goals. Collaboration with leaders is essential to establish operating procedures, enhance workflows, increase productivity, and improve quality outcomes and operational efficiencies. The Assistant Director assists the Director in daily operations and assumes responsibility for the department in the Director's absence. This includes, but is not limited to, Life Safety and Utilities Management documentation, assisting front-line staff with best practices and solutions, supervision of contractors, and project management oversight, including ISLM and Infection Control during construction. TJC, DHEC, and CMS survey experience is desired. This position is responsible for engineering support for the Pee Dee Division: Florence, SC; Marion, SC and BlackRiver/Cades, SC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 + years in healthcare facilities management.
  • 2 years supervisory or management experience.

  • TJC, DHEC, and CMS survey experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Manages initiatives, strategic priorities and programs which have an impact on the organization.
  • Works independently and in collaboration with leadership to support the budget process and meeting key operational goals.
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates, monitors, and evaluates activities and functions of the department/functional business area based employee/organizational goals.
  • Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical/non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings.
  • Assists the Director in day to day operations of the department and assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the Director.
  • Life Safety and Utilities Management documentation.
  • Assisting front line staff with best practice and solutions.
  • Supervision of contractors.
  • Inclusion in project management oversight including ISLM and Infection Control during construction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
