About The Position

The Assistant Director of Dining Services supports the Dining Services Director in leading daily dining operations and delivering exceptional hospitality experiences for residents and guests. This role assists in overseeing front-of-house dining services, including the dining room, bistro, bar, catering, and special events, while providing leadership, coaching, and support to dining team members. The Assistant Director may assume operational responsibility in the Director's absence and plays a key role in maintaining service excellence, resident satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of front-of-house leadership experience in a restaurant, hotel, convention center, senior living community, or similar hospitality environment
  • Knowledge of food service operations and a variety of dining service styles
  • Food Protection Manager certification (ServSafe or equivalent)
  • Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and team development skills
  • Ability to effectively manage staffing, service standards, and resident satisfaction

Nice To Haves

  • 3–7 years of progressive food service and hospitality experience, including supervisory responsibilities
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Dietary Services Supervisor (DSS) certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Restaurant Management, Hospitality Management, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting community openings, dining refreshes, or service transitions

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily front-of-house operations for the dining room, bistro, bar, and special events to ensure exceptional service and hospitality
  • Support resident dining experiences by addressing concerns, resolving service issues, and promoting customer satisfaction
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management of dining team members
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and provide ongoing education on food, beverages, service standards, and hospitality expectations
  • Support catering services, community events, and special dining functions
  • Monitor staffing levels, labor costs, inventory, and purchasing activities to support operational and budgetary goals
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health department regulations, and company policies
  • Assist with quality assurance initiatives, service audits, resident feedback programs, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Train team members on proper equipment operation, food handling procedures, and workplace safety practices
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming dining environment for residents, guests, and team members
  • Serve as the dining operations leader in the absence of the Dining Services Director
