About The Position

Under the leadership of the Executive Director of the Cosmetology School, the Assistant Director serves as the second-in-command, providing essential leadership across all operational, educational, compliance, admissions, and administrative functions within our Indianapolis, IN School. In this role, you will work closely with cosmetology students to enhance their overall experience, overseeing school operations, advising on educational requirements, conducting orientations, observing classroom and salon activities, maintaining student records, and ensuring that all aspects related to student enrollment, attendance, education, progress toward graduation, licensure, and placement are effectively addressed. The Assistant Director will also collaborate with the School Director to ensure continuous management coverage during all school hours. This position requires flexibility, with a schedule that includes two evenings per week and two Saturdays per month.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of combined work experience and education.
  • Management experience is required.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead a team.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets.
  • Proven ability to achieve operational goals.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and execute established policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Operational management experience is preferred.
  • School leadership experience in a post-secondary environment is a plus.
  • Experience managing accreditation and/or compliance is preferred.
  • Experience with student admissions/enrollment is a bonus.
  • A Vocational Diploma, or an Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
