About The Position

The Assistant Director, Center for Security Studies (CSS) will manage grant and scholarship administration, track grant funding and expenditures, lead the planning and execution of CSS events, serve as a representative for CSS, coordinate academic operations and communications, and supervise staff and student workers. This role requires operational excellence, grants and compliance acumen, strong technical and AI-enabled productivity skills, event and stakeholder leadership, and academic and administrative fluency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (education, public administration, security studies, information systems, or related discipline).
  • 3+ years of experience in academic administration, program coordination, grants management, or higher education operations.

  • Master’s degree in a related academic or administrative field.

  • Experience maintaining academic websites or content management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage grant, scholarship, and fellowship administration, including application coordination, compliance tracking, reporting, and liaison with Financial Aid, Finance, and Student Services.
  • Track grant funding, expenditures, performance metrics, and deadlines, providing financial and impact reporting to senior leadership and external sponsors.
  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of CSS conferences, advisory board meetings, workshops, and webinars, including logistics, speakers, and materials.
  • Serve as a representative and point of contact for CSS with faculty, government, industry, and academic partners, particularly in the absence of senior leadership.
  • Coordinate CSS academic operations and communications, including support for academic programs and maintenance of web content and resources.
  • Supervise and direct staff and student workers, maintaining accurate records, documentation, and operational support for CSS programs and partnerships.
