The Assistant Director of CASA (Assistant Director for Data, Projects, and Communication) is broadly responsible for CASA’s operations connected to data-driven strategic, office communication standards, and project management benefiting Mines’ commitment to time to graduation, retention, and student thriving and performance. This individual will work with the Director of CASA and serve as a department and division expert with matters related to advising software, retention and persistence data, and impactful communication and project oversight. The Assistant Director is responsible for communicating the impact of the Center for Academic Services and Support (CASA) using assessments and data available through Institutional Research and Mines reports. Impact efforts include CASA's interactions with the Mines community, advising appointments and events, and working toward identifying course sequencing and summer offerings to support efficient time to graduation. The Assistant Director will proactively drive retention efforts with the Director and through the varied academic support or advising services. The Assistant Director is also responsible for oversight of all CASA outreach efforts, impact information, projects, and assessments for the sustainability of CASA operations. As part of the CASA extended leadership team, the Assistant Director will support office operations by participating in budget allocation discussions, providing indirect supervision of CASA professional and student staff, and serving as a contact to campus partners. As part of this work, the Assistant Director will serve as the main administrator for the CASA software systems, including the continued integration and use of Slate. The Assistant Director will support CASA through a collaborative structural redesign to create an office/center more heavily focused on academic support, retention, degree progression, and advanced student advising. The Assistant Director’s responsibilities, skills, experience, and priorities will remain, though the office deliverables will shift in priority as CASA evolves. Most immediately, the Assistant Director will champion the continued integration of the Slate Success Module, an institutional software system administered by CASA. The Assistant Director will be expected to help lead this change with poise, high-quality deliverables, and uncompromised collegial rapport alongside the CASA leadership team.
