About The Position

The Assistant Director of Camp and School Age Services will assist the Director of Camp & Youth in planning, staffing and implementation of both programs. Hours are 10-6 during academic year, but will vary when school is on a break and during summer camp. A primary responsibility of this and all other jobs at the JCC is to ensure by whatever rational and reasonable means necessary that each and every member, guest and visitor leaves the JCC feeling just a little better than when they arrived.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years work-related experience including school-age program planning and implementation, supervision, and administrative management.
  • CPR, First Aid certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and prepares daily activities and special events for after-school care.
  • Plans all school break programming.
  • Supervises staff during after-school care program hours.
  • Provides direct service care for after school and schools out day programs.
  • Communicates with parents regarding absences, changes in transportation, individual behavior reports, schools’ days out information, etc.
  • Partners with Director for all paperwork relevant to ASC operations including attendance sheets, room reservations and set-ups, purchase orders.
  • Purchases supplies and maintains inventory for after-school care.
  • Maintains billing and attendance records related to ASC enrollment.
  • Works with Food Services to order healthy and cost-effective snacks.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately to counselors as it fits their individual abilities and professional developmental paths.
  • Partners with Director in recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, supervision, and development of school-age programming staff.
  • Communicates with other departments/directors regarding availability of programming space for after-school care.
  • Partners with Director in planning and organizing Summer Camp Program annually.
  • Communicates with camp parents throughout the summer.
  • Partners with Director in supervision of counselors for camp.
  • Ensures snacks are distributed to appropriate location at appropriate time for camp.
  • Maintains billing and attendance records related to camp enrollment.
  • Partners with Director in scheduling transportation for camp field trips.
  • Partners with Director for marketing/social media campaigns or presence for camp.
  • Partners with Director in recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, supervision and development of Camp staff.
  • Plans and execute both small- and large-scale school-age and family programs.
  • Assists in ECE on an as-needed basis.
