About The Position

This position, within Sponsored Research Services (SRS), is responsible for providing financial and administrative support for the Scientific Ocean Drilling (SOD) program. The role supports SOD operations by co-leading oversight of departmental and sponsored program financial, procurement, export control, and other compliance activities, and by working with multiple stakeholders to ensure effective stewardship of program resources. SRS supports the research mission of the university by delivering efficient, high‑quality service to the Texas A&M System research community and by collaborating with campus and external partners to ensure the successful administration of sponsored projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • For Assistant Director: Six years of progressively responsible administrative experience, including compliance and supervisory responsibilities, with related experience in accounting, project management, and budget development in a university or business environment, and experience supporting proposal administration, proposal preparation, or identifying funding/sponsorship opportunities.
  • For Associate Director: Eight years of administration experience, accounting experience, with some management experience.

  • Post-award project management experience.

  • Experience managing complex federal research projects.
  • Familiarity with SRS and TAMU Financial Management Operations (FMO) procedures.
  • Experience supervising professional personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Support faculty members in the preparation, review, and submission of research proposals.
  • Interpret and effectively communicate sponsor guidelines to ensure compliance with all requirements.
  • Budget preparation and compliance verification with sponsor regulations and Texas A&M University System Member policies.
  • Coordinate and compile proposal materials in collaboration with internal and external collaborators.
  • Ensure accurate final proposal preparation, review and submission while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Co-leading oversight of departmental and sponsored program financial, procurement, export control, and other compliance activities.
  • Working with multiple stakeholders to ensure effective stewardship of program resources.
