About The Position

Work is performed under limited supervision of the Executive Director and leads the Foundation's annual giving strategy and donor engagement efforts to grow philanthropic support for Kitsap Regional Library. This position is responsible for developing and implementing annual fundraising campaigns, strengthening donor stewardship and retention, and creating meaningful donor experiences that deepen community connection and inspire continued support. Working collaboratively with Foundation and Library staff, the Assistant Director builds and manages donor engagement strategies across multiple channels and supports the development of a strong pipeline of individual donors. This role also helps strengthen operational fundraising systems, donor communications, and stewardship practices that advance the Foundation's mission and fundraising goals. Work is performed with significant opportunities for exercising independent judgment and initiative.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.

  • Learn library programs and services offered to the public for inclusion in fundraising materials.
  • Skills and abilities in comprehensive non-profit CRM management.
  • Skills and ability in persuasive and charismatic communication both verbally and in writing for a broad audience of individuals, community leaders and organizations regarding the needs of the Foundation.
  • Network and build strong relationships with donors and the community.
  • Develop materials that highlight the areas of potential donor support and increase community awareness of the Library and the services and programs offered.
  • Manage, design and maintain materials supporting activities and events and deliver presentations.
  • Develop and maintain highly confidential and sensitive financial and donor records.
  • Recognize and set priorities and use initiative and independent judgment in a wide variety of situations.
  • Provide excellent customer service both externally and internally.
  • Operate standard office equipment, perform required data entry proficiently, and utilize computer software and specialized programs. Knowledge of donor databases is required.
  • Work on a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, as meetings and special events dictate.
  • Excellent customer service for patrons and co-workers.

  • Technical writing experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual giving strategy focused on donor acquisition, retention, and growth
  • Lead annual fundraising campaigns including direct mail, email, digital appeals, giving days, and year-end fundraising efforts
  • Manage campaign timelines, segmentation, messaging coordination, and performance tracking
  • Maintain, monitor, and analyze data utilizing a nonprofit CRM, to ensure stewardship oversight, acknowledgment processes, impact reporting, and recommendations to support revenue growth.
  • Lead and manage the Foundation's donor pipeline, stewardship, recognition, and experience strategies to ensure thoughtful engagement, strengthen long-term relationships, and support donor retention.
  • Develop and manage donor engagement events and cultivation opportunities in partnership with Foundation leadership
  • Manage and cultivate a portfolio of annual and mid-level donors through relationship-building, outreach, and stewardship
  • Identify opportunities to deepen donor engagement and support movement through the donor pipeline
  • Partner with Foundation leadership on donor strategy and prospect development
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Communications will regularly contain confidential/sensitive information necessitating discretion.
  • This position requires professional communication skills, initiative, accountability, and leadership skills to achieve fundraising objectives that ensure viability of the Library's mission to serve our community.
