About The Position

Contributes to YSU’s strategic enrollment plan by creating new and strengthening existing pathways for traditional and non-traditional students which include transfer, former students, and first year students. Works collaboratively with various departments and colleges across campus to create a seamless enrollment process. Ensures the daily function of operations and services related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Exercises professional judgment to prioritize competing demands and allocate resources effectively to meet departmental goals. Serves as a subject matter expert and resource person for the assigned area.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • At least a bachelor’s degree
  • At least two years of experience working in higher education or a related field

  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives; department/division policies and procedures; workplace safety practices and procedures; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management; project management.
  • Skills in Use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division.
  • Ability to Deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; prepare accurate documentation; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one task to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, counseling, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of admissions or related higher education experience.
  • Experience in preparing and conducting presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in creating programs and processes designed to identify and enroll students who are looking to transfer or return to the University.
  • Provides assistance in coordinating and implementing enrollment strategies off campus at recruitment events.
  • Cultivates relationships with colleagues and students at community colleges.
  • Participates in campus recruitment events for transfer and first year students, such as but not limited to open houses, yield events and counselor programs.
  • Counsels transfer and returning students through each stage of the admissions process; provides personalized guidance and timely follow-up to support enrollment; explains related policy and procedures; and discusses available academic programs and opportunities.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of the strategic transfer and former student marketing, recruitment and enrollment plan.
  • Utilizes CRM to support transfer territory management with the use of data driven decisions and increase enrollment goals.
  • Researches and recommends process improvements for departmental operations on a routine or regular basis.
  • Evaluates effectiveness and recommends enhancements of services.
  • Participates and/or leads complex projects, including implementation plans, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Prepares reports and other information/documentation to assist the supervisor in strategic planning of the assigned area.
  • Ensures the day-to-day functionality and assists administrators in the general oversight of the assigned area’s operations and services as related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective.
  • Leads and coordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of a department’s/division’s overall programs and/or services.
  • Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review related to the department’s/division’s programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components thereof.
  • Prepares for and attends events.
  • Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attend meetings, conferences, and other events.
  • Trains new hires.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.
