About The Position

Responsible for the management of the dining rooms and events. Assists the Dining Room Manager in establishing a high standard of appearance, hospitality, graciousness, service, and cleanliness. Plans, coordinates, and directs training activities of the dining room staff to provide a professional and fine dining service. Following our mission, the Assistant Dining Room Manager is expected to exceed residents’ expectations. Will ensure adequate staff coverage, delegating tasks, assisting residents or guests with special requests, and directing efficient dining room service. Assures the staff always wear proper clean uniforms and have proper certification. Serves as a liaison between other departments. Serves as a positive coach, inspects, and trains immediately. Must be knowledgeable in laws and regulations concerning labor, alcohol, and food safety issues.

Requirements

  • Previous dining experience required.
  • Must be able to speak and write in the English language.
  • Proficient in POS (Point of Sale).
  • Knowledge of using an iPad.
  • High School Diploma required.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the reservation, set-ups and seating systems during operating hours.
  • Assist all subordinate employees with any task as needed.
  • Check tables throughout service times for resident satisfaction, resolve complaints.
  • In absence of the DRM, will handle some tasks usually assigned to the DRM.
  • Ensure side work is completed every day and dining room supplies are stocked. Reports on any supply shortages as per department policy.
  • Proactively reviews activity calendars, daily specials, and other applicable announcements to predict volume.
  • Train new hires in service standards, menu items, use of software systems.
  • Assist with banquet room set up and break down.
  • Ensures Dining Service area room readiness. All dining areas have the proper supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Provides accurate par levels to the DRM and/or F & B Director.
  • Projects Dining department needs and delegates tasks accordingly.
  • Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training.
  • Manage the pick-up and delivery orders for each dining venue.
  • Observe staff service to monitor efficiency and service.
  • Collaborate throughout working hours with the back of the house and other DR supervisors and management and adjust work according to department needs.
  • Honor the residents’ personal and property rights.
  • Attend and participate in annual mandated facility in-service training programs as scheduled (e.g., OSHA, DOH, HIPAA, Abuse Prevention, etc.).
  • Work within the Departments SOP so all staff experience consistent management.
  • Assure that food being presented to the servers is the appropriate order, temperature serving. Ensures food being served is up to dining standards. Makes corrections as needed.
  • Understand food allergies and menu ingredients. Relay allergy information to appropriate Kitchen staff and Dining staff.
  • Relays positive feedback to staff upon receipt from residents and guests.
  • Can cater to the needs of those with different abilities. Practices discretion whenever possible.
  • Advocates for the residents and guests to have the best dining experience and includes others to make that happen.
  • Assign breaks to staff as needed. Always know the location of staff.
  • Monitor inventory and communication as per department procedures to the DRM or others when departmental supplies i.e., china, glassware, linen, liquor are running low so there is not a shortage.
  • Participate in the budget planning process as directed.
  • Ensures that storage areas are always clean and always safe. This includes proper stacking and eliminating tripping hazards. Corrects any safety violations immediately. Inspect par levels to be prepared for day-to-day operations.
  • Operates a computer/iPad/phone to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data; utilizes word, excel, outlook, Matrix/AOD, internet, and other software programs at a high level of proficiency.
  • In the absence of the Dining Manager, review and authorize bi-weekly payroll and submit to accounting department on time. Monitors all and tracks time off requests, paid time benefits and employee attendance weekly.
  • Produces appropriate documentation including incident reports, accident reports, HR/Payroll forms, counseling and forms and proper PTO/ Sick Bank tracking.
  • Act as initial contact for disciplinary actions. Assure that actions are consistent, documented, and accurate. Provides follow-up to the DRM, F&B Director and HR. Involves security and or police if needed.
  • Provides staff limited education on benefits forwarding employees to HR.
  • Collaborates with the DRM manager on reviewing employee performance.
  • May recruit, interview, hire and train new staff or assist management with this process.
  • Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
  • As requested by the Manager, conducts, or assists with performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Assists the Manager with employment actions, including discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Assumes Dining Room Manager role when DRM is not present. Acts as a liaison between Supervisors and Dining Room Manager.
  • Oversees inventory controls and ordering of departmental supplies (i.e.. Singer Equipment) Responsible for oversight of monthly inventory and ensuring par levels are always obtained.
  • Holds supervisors responsible for daily tasks and upholds standards for all staff.
  • Manages conflict and resolves complaints about or within the department.
  • Coordinates mentorship program and promotes a positive work environment.
  • Reviews and organizes up-to-date documentation related to the department: Schedules, Daily Use Documentation, phone lists, email lists, Banquet Event Orders, Staffing Guides and others as required.
  • Acknowledges Residents and Guests with a greeting or by Mr. and Mrs. (Last Name) or title ex: Doctor, Senator, Admiral etc. Provides a friendly and welcoming environment always which includes eye contact, a smile, and a greeting, acknowledging every Employee, Resident or Guest maintaining outstanding, fast, and efficient service.

  • Ensures that all Residents, Employees and Guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their needs. Upholds the highest operational and Beaumont service standards.
