About The Position

Kontoor Brands is seeking an Assistant Designer for their Wrangler Traditional Women’s Denim team. This role reports to the Senior Designer and is responsible for supporting all design activities for Wrangler women’s denim. The position involves driving new, trend-right, and innovative product consistent with merchandising briefs while staying true to the Brand DNA. The Assistant Designer will gain foundational knowledge of the design process and efficiencies, supporting the design team in daily functions. This role also provides administrative support for tracking and processing lab dips with cross-functional and global teams, and assists with administrative tasks for fit sessions and prototype reviews for the Modern design team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in apparel design, art, graphics or equivalent combination of experience preferred.
• 1 year professional experience and/or training in apparel design.
• Illustration skills – hand sketch and Illustrator capabilities.
• Good color sense.
• Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop knowledge/experience required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to think creatively, focus on the details, and a commitment to high quality of work.
• Highly organized and can communicate appropriately.
• Strong multi-tasking capabilities – be able to be flexible and agile with time and responsibilities.
• Positive attitude and outlook and be a team player.

Nice To Haves

• Familiar with V-Stitcher/3D design

Responsibilities

• Assist Design team in the development and design of seasonal product lines and special projects, including fabric, trims, artwork, and overall style details.
• Enter and track all virtual and physical prototypes.
• Support the team in building Design presentations and decks and create and maintain Design cadsheets.
• Develop and maintain Design Development Tracker.
• Approve washes, trims, color labdips, strike-offs, and handlooms in collaboration with the Designer.
• Build out cadsheets for the line assortment with the Designer.
• Build out wash briefs and request new wet and dry processes with the Designer.
• Take notes in proto and fit reviews and other key milestone meetings.
