About The Position

The Assistant Designer supports the category Designers in executing seasonal product for the North America market, helping to translate global direction into regionally relevant assortments. The role will work closely with the lead Designer to adapt pre-selected concepts, update existing styles, and prepare technical details for development with guidance from other team members. The Assistant Designer is required to be proficient in tech pack creation and Illustrator, updating sketches, details, BOM and CADs. The Assistant Designer will assist in yarn sourcing, swatch development, creating yarn boards and assisting in fittings. All in partnership with Merchandising, Technical Design, and Product Development to maintain seasonal timelines, track design updates, and ensure accuracy across systems.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of related design experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Fashion Design or a related field.
  • Have knowledge and experience in knitwear. Able to launch swatches and have an understanding of gauge and basic stitches.
  • Hand / computer sketching on Illustrator or ProCreate.
  • Strong computer skills. Proficient in Photoshop, illustrator, Acrobat and other related software.
  • Ability to multitask between different seasons and tasks effectively with a positive, open-minded, and solutions-oriented attitude
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and strong communication skills, with a collaborative mindset
  • Team player, able to collaborate creatively to problem solve via effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Work with design team members to do research for silhouettes & techniques, develop concepts via swatch development or silhouette, source seasonal yarns and develop stitches & silhouettes aligned with the global creative direction.
  • Execute swatch development via Illustrator based on global concept & research under guidance from other team members.
  • Manage styles from sketching based on concept and swatches, to creating tech packs for them and passing off to tech designer under the guidance of other lead designers within the team. Responsible for updating own sketches & TPs when there are updates, and after every fitting.
  • Creates and maintains tech packs and BOMs in Illustrator and PLM (Centric).
  • Assists with CADs every season.
  • Take notes during fittings with tech team. Corrects tech packs & BOM accordingly after each fitting.
  • Helps to set up seasonal yarn boards for presentations. Maintains the seasonal boards amidst changes, and manages storage of seasonal knitdowns after each season.
  • Manage the organization & pricing of yarn library, & samples from vendors and archive.
