About The Position

The Assistant Department Manager, Pharmacy is a developmental position used to educate and prepare the individual for the responsibilities of the Pharmacy Manager position. This person is responsible for ensuring the pharmacy meets all standards set by the provincial pharmacy regulatory body and all legislative requirements, fostering professionalism, good business practices and a strong work ethic. The role involves operating the pharmacy efficiently with a focus on staff productivity, staff training, team building and payroll usage, as well as resource planning that addresses manpower needs, staff performance standards, training and development plans. The Assistant Department Manager ensures all company directives, policies & procedures, programs and initiatives are well communicated and executed, maintains good inventory control, and works to build the pharmacy business and increase sales and profit. In addition to these duties, this is also a customer service position requiring significant customer contact. Applicants must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while providing quality service in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with 2-3 years of pharmacy experience
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of self motivation and resourcefulness
  • Good organizational skills and diligence
  • Good business sense
  • Proven ability to build the business
  • Strong dedication to following and enforcing all Company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, employees, and management
