About The Position

This role involves supporting the Debate Sponsor in various aspects of managing the school's debate program. The Assistant Debate Sponsor will work within the guidelines of the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) to manage student accounts, track points, provide resources, and identify debate topics. Responsibilities also include assisting with judge recruitment, coordinating student transportation to competitions, helping students find and create speech pieces, holding weekly practices, and attending competitions, where judging may be required.

Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

Create student accounts within the NSDA guidelines.
Keep track of student points.
Access and provide resources for students.
Locate topics for public forum debate.
Assist with the recruitment of judges.
Assist with coordination of transportation needs for students to competitions.
Help students find/create speech pieces for competition that adhere to NSDA standards and guidelines.
Hold practice every week to ensure students are prepared for competition.
Attend competitions throughout the season.
Judging may be required during competition.
