The Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications for the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science serves as the senior communications strategist. This role is responsible for designing, leading, and refining a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance the college's visibility, reputation, and impact. The position involves overseeing a broad communications portfolio including strategic messaging, digital strategy, stakeholder engagement, marketing, and storytelling, ensuring a clear, compelling, and brand-aligned college voice. The Assistant Dean will manage communications staff and projects, develop and implement integrated communication strategies connecting the college's mission and accomplishments to various audiences, and advise senior leadership on strategic marketing communications for academic programs. This role also involves collaboration with and consultation from University Relations departments, which act as a partner and resource for college communicators. People leaders are expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by being trustworthy, respectful, flexible, supportive of work/life integration, open to new ideas, and by recognizing contributions and speaking up against exclusion or inappropriate treatment.
