About The Position

The Assistant Dean provides daily operational leadership, vision, strategic direction, and administrative oversight for the Dean of Students Office’s Care Network. This position directly supervises off-campus Case Managers and Student Navigators and ensures consistent, timely, and developmentally appropriate implementation of comprehensive, non-clinical case management and student support services. The Assistant Dean additionally leads off-campus student services by collaborating and organizing programs with on and off-campus services to address off-campus student needs. The Assistant Dean provides consistent leadership presence for high-volume, time-sensitive care work by ensuring continuity of coverage, standardizing response practices, and strengthening quality assurance for documentation, monitoring, and follow-up. The Assistant Dean leads the coordination and serves in the Dean on Duty rotation (on-call response) as a front-line responder during routine business hours and participates in the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) rotations. This position also assists with department-wide leadership responsibilities, including major Dean of Students Office events such as commencement and other large-scale initiatives. The Assistant Dean serves as a consistent on-site operational leader within the Dean of Students Office and a key member of the Dean on Duty response structure, providing front-line support and ensuring continuity of daily functions, staff coverage, and follow-through when senior leadership is otherwise engaged. This role supports effective day-to-day functioning and timely decision-making in coordination with the Associate Dean and in accordance with established escalation protocols.

Requirements

  • Master's degree.
  • Five or more years of full-time professional experience in higher education student affairs, case management, student support services, crisis response, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising full-time professional staff in student support, case management, or related student-facing services.
  • Experience coordinating responses for students of concern, including triage, referral, and cross-campus collaboration.
  • Knowledge of FERPA, student development theory, and non-clinical case management models.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience supervising case management, care-focused teams, or basic needs and/or student support functions.
  • Experience serving on or coordinating a behavioral intervention or care team.
  • Experience with on-call response structures (Dean on Duty); familiarity with crisis response protocols.
