About The Position

The Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Strategic Initiatives, and Assessment oversees and coordinates academic affairs, inter-college curricula and programs, educational policy, assessment plans, and data-informed strategic planning for the Honors College. This role involves establishing and implementing procedures for academic affairs operations, interpreting and assessing college policies, and recommending educational and programmatic changes. The Assistant Dean will ensure a holistic vision for Honors College requirements and curricular maps, provide strategic leadership for course offerings, and direct assessment and evaluation processes to ensure academic quality and alignment with learning outcomes. They will also lead the development and management of Honors Pathways programs, oversee auditing of student progress, and be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive assessment strategies for student outcomes and institutional effectiveness. Additionally, this role involves serving as a liaison to various academic offices, performing data analysis for reporting, guiding administrative oversight of data interpretation, and coordinating data-informed strategic planning. Other duties include serving as an administrative liaison to the Honors Council and committees, preparing reports on college activities, assisting the Dean with grant proposals, and participating in special projects.

Requirements

  • MA Degree
  • Minimum of four years of higher education management experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development in the higher education context
  • Demonstrated experience in developing educational policy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement procedures for efficient and effective academic affairs operations across all areas of the college.
  • Interpret, implement, and assess college policies in providing staff guidance and to assure compliance with college and campus standards.
  • Recommend educational and programmatic policy, practice, and procedural changes as necessary.
  • Ensure a holistic and coherent vision for the Honors College and Honors Pathways requirements and curricular maps.
  • Provide strategic leadership, vision, and curricular oversight for the Honors College's 300- and 400-level course offerings and any new collaboration on curriculum with campus partners.
  • Direct assessment and evaluation processes to ensure academic quality, student engagement, and alignment with Honors College learning outcomes.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of the college-based Honors Pathways programs in close collaboration with campus partners, as well as oversee the auditing of student progress toward graduation as an Honors Scholar within these programs.
  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive assessment strategies to measure student outcomes and institutional effectiveness, data-informed improvement, and supporting continuous quality enhancement.
  • Serve as liaison to the Office of Academic Program Development.
  • Serve as liaison to Academic Program Review and Assessment.
  • Serve as liaison to campus and the college coordinator of accreditation and programmatic evaluations.
  • Perform analysis of data for internal and external reporting.
  • Guide and provide administrative oversight of all reporting and assessment measures used to interpret and analyze student and program-related data; review and disseminate information to appropriate parties within the College and across Campus.
  • Coordinate data-informed strategic planning for the Honors College.
  • Serve as the administrative liaison to the College’s Honors Council and committees.
  • Prepare a bi-annual report on Honor College’s activities for the Honors Council and Honors Faculty meetings.
  • Prepare a yearly comprehensive data-informed report on Honors College activities and Honors student achievements for the Provost and Chancellor’s Offices.
  • Assist the Dean in the writing of grant proposals for external funding.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
