The Assistant Dean reports to the Dean of Academic Programs. The Assistant Dean works collaboratively with the Faculty Center Director to ensure consistent leadership and provide strategic direction for the University’s central hub for teaching and learning excellence, faculty professional development, and faculty community-building. The Assistant Dean oversees operations of the Faculty Center and provides space for programing that is by-faculty-for-faculty. The Assistant Dean provides administrative leadership for faculty development, inclusive evidence-based pedagogy, instructional design integration, and faculty support programs that advance student learning and institutional effectiveness. The Assistant Dean provides leadership for and serves on the North County Higher Education Association (NCHEA). The Assistant Dean serves as the campus lead for teaching and learning excellence, coordinating with Academic Programs, Academic Technology, Institutional Research, Deans, the Provost’s Office, and the Faculty Center Advisory Council. The Assistant Dean also supervises the Center’s staff, including the Faculty Center Coordinator/Analyst, instructional designers/education developers once transitioned to the Center, and the Center’s faculty fellows, consistent with current Faculty Center structures.
