The Assistant Dean is responsible for the site supervision, development, planning, coordination, organization, implementation and evaluation of the nursing program activities. The Assistant Dean assists the Dean with various aspects related to clinical sites, including planning, developing, managing, updating, and evaluating all program elements. This includes the RN program budget, faculty and staff management, clinical site liaison, curriculum development and implementation, program compliance with Board rules and regulations, site visits, student advocacy, program policies and procedures, and faculty and student handbooks. The role also involves collaborating with the Campus Director and operational teams to manage student intake, progression, and campus-wide compliance. Additionally, the Assistant Dean partners with operations leadership to create staffing models and faculty schedules, ensures adequate supplies and equipment, prepares data for state and Board requirements, and maintains student and faculty records. The position also involves identifying and obtaining outside resources, developing and implementing program policies, organizing program committees, overseeing the admission process and orientation, writing articulation agreements, serving as a liaison between the community and the college, and performing other duties as needed. A key responsibility is developing and maintaining educational partnerships and contracts with clinical sites, performing clinical site evaluations, and meeting with clinical faculty or agency representatives to confirm details for clinical rotations. The Assistant Dean ensures evaluations are completed and summary reports are provided, maintains minutes of inter-agency meetings, participates in nursing faculty recruitment, hiring, and orientation, and ensures regular nursing faculty meetings are conducted. The role also involves conflict resolution for faculty and students, initiating and maintaining community relationships, advocating for and marketing programs, monitoring instruction quality, participating in faculty and program review, maintaining professional association memberships, interacting with other college entities, providing advising support and degree planning, ensuring proper orientation to skills labs and clinical facilities, managing student appeals and grievances, participating in recruitment and admission planning, advising nursing students, and assuring students meet graduation and licensing exam requirements. The Assistant Dean also conducts Nursing Advisory Committee meetings and is responsible for student performance in the program, NCLEX licensing, and job placement rates. There is a dotted-line relationship to the Campus Director to support integration with student services, financial aid, and admissions operations.
